From the moment you set foot into our art gallery your senses are awakened. An amazing array of colourful artworks compete for your attention in every way you turn. Quirky sculptures stimulate the imagination in ways you never thought possible and upcycled creations make you re-think anything you’ve disposed of.

Creativity is certainly alive and thriving in our Murwillumbah Hub and there is no wonder why it is a stand-out feature in this years Murwillumbah Art Trail (MAT18).

The Lifebridge Visual Arts Program is not about your disability, it is about your ability and about encouraging you to be good at what you can do. To really enjoy art.” said Lifebridge artist, Jocelyn Smith.

Artists and tutors have opened the doors into the Murwillumbah art space welcoming the public to wonder inside and see where the creative process unfolds. For any budding artists, this is the perfect chance for you to connect with our artists and tutors and ask any questions about how you can nurture your creativity and passion and also how you can be a part of our Visual Arts Program.

In just the opening week of MAT18 we have sold over $1,300.00 worth of artworks which is a tremendous credit to our very talented artists and tutors who nurture each individual’s talents.

MAT18 has been themed ‘Moving On’, in relation to the devastating floods of 2017 which left the town reeling. It showcases the resilience of the town, when in a time of crisis, they band together as a community and support each other.

As well as supporting the Murwillumbah community, ‘Moving On’ has personal meaning to Lifebridge. In the past 6 months major changes have been made, which has taken many customers out of their comfort zones. Our biggest change, our move from Tweed Heads and into Murwillumbah.

The embrace of the community and the willing attitudes of our customers, however, has seen this turn into such a wonderful experience for everyone involved. Our customers are thriving in their new space and we are continuing to expand our involvement in community activities.

“A lot has changed for me this year, I have got a job and I am going on a holiday this year which I never thought would be possible. We are doing amazing things at Lifebridge. We are doing Cooly Rocks On and the Banana Festival and I really enjoy coming to the Murwillumbah Art Hub at Lifebridge.” said Jocelyn.

The talented artists from the Lifebridge Visual Arts Program have done it again!

From 285 contestants in the 2017 Challenge Art Competition titled ‘Wonderland’ we are extremely proud to announce that each and every one of our artists entries were chosen as finalists, with Jason Williams and Rebekah Sweetnam taking out a major prize.

The theme for this year’s competition was “Wonderland” and the artworks represent the artists interpretation of what Wonderland means to them. Jason Williams work entitled “We’re all mad here” was awarded a Runner Up Prize and Rebekah Sweetnam’s work “Imagine” was awarded an Encouragement Prize.

“This is the character I thought of when I heard the word ‘Wonderland’. The Mad Hatter is a little bit crazy and I really like that because I’m a little crazy sometimes too…aren’t we all?” Jason Williams

“Rebekah enjoys working on small pictures that collectively make a composition. Her delightful renditions bring the imagination to the fore as one can read anything and everything into her work – which is, in the essence of Wonderland. All illustrative delight.” Kathryn Cleland (Art Tutor)

Our artists have been entering the Challenge Art Competition, an annual state-wide competition held by Challenge Community Services, Tamworth for the last seven years and we have managed to take home major awards each year with all of our entries being judged as finalists.

The artworks are currently being exhibited in the Ray Walsh Gallery, Tamworth over the Christmas, New Year period and negotiations are underway to showcase these works locally early in the New Year.

Our Visual Arts Program is constantly kicking and surpassing their goals and with so many changes afoot for 2018 they are looking forward to taking on any new challenges with purpose and enthusiasm.

Creative Arts programs display their masterpieces

The Lifebridge Creative Arts programs – Visual Arts, Multi-Media & Photography and Textiles programs will be showcasing their exquisite artwork at the Murwillumbah Library in an exclusive 6 week exhibition commencing September 4, 2017.

All artwork displayed in the exhibition has been created by our very talented customers and will be available for purchase. The Lifebridge Creative Arts programs are an excellent avenue for customer expression. Each customer has a story to tell and a vision and regardless of abilities, through Creatives Arts, our customers are able to express exactly what that is.

Our artists will be popping in from time to time over the course of the exhibition to talk about their creations and the story their pieces are telling. A range of different styles, methods and textures have been used in this display and get their full-effect one must see them in real-life.
