A massive congratulations goes to Ryan Lindsay, one of our very talented artists who participates in the Lifebridge Visual Arts Program, for taking out First Prize in the NSW state-wide Challenge Art Competition, 2018.

The artists of our Murwillumbah Art Hub have been partaking in this competition since its inception eight years ago and have been awarded prizes each and every year, an achievement they hope to repeat again in 2019.

The theme for the 2018 competition was “Australian Country” and more than 200 artworks were submitted by people with a disability and foster care children across the State.

Beaming with pride, Ryan was presented with his winning certificate and prize money recently at our Murwillumbah Art Hub. His parents Wendy and Merv popped in for the occasion with a celebratory cake and sandwiches for morning tea.

We are all so very proud of Ryan’s achievements and encourage you to pop into our beautiful gallery at Shop 1, 131 Murwillumbah Street, Murwillumbah to meet our talented artists and view their artworks, all of which are for sale.

The talented artists from the Lifebridge Visual Arts Program have done it again!

From 285 contestants in the 2017 Challenge Art Competition titled ‘Wonderland’ we are extremely proud to announce that each and every one of our artists entries were chosen as finalists, with Jason Williams and Rebekah Sweetnam taking out a major prize.

The theme for this year’s competition was “Wonderland” and the artworks represent the artists interpretation of what Wonderland means to them. Jason Williams work entitled “We’re all mad here” was awarded a Runner Up Prize and Rebekah Sweetnam’s work “Imagine” was awarded an Encouragement Prize.

“This is the character I thought of when I heard the word ‘Wonderland’. The Mad Hatter is a little bit crazy and I really like that because I’m a little crazy sometimes too…aren’t we all?” Jason Williams

“Rebekah enjoys working on small pictures that collectively make a composition. Her delightful renditions bring the imagination to the fore as one can read anything and everything into her work – which is, in the essence of Wonderland. All illustrative delight.” Kathryn Cleland (Art Tutor)

Our artists have been entering the Challenge Art Competition, an annual state-wide competition held by Challenge Community Services, Tamworth for the last seven years and we have managed to take home major awards each year with all of our entries being judged as finalists.

The artworks are currently being exhibited in the Ray Walsh Gallery, Tamworth over the Christmas, New Year period and negotiations are underway to showcase these works locally early in the New Year.

Our Visual Arts Program is constantly kicking and surpassing their goals and with so many changes afoot for 2018 they are looking forward to taking on any new challenges with purpose and enthusiasm.
