Four Certificate II Hospitality students Jason Williams, Robert Porteous, Julia Larsen and Alex Bruce are part of a Pop up Cafe at Kingscliff Tafe. This Pop up Cafe located in B-block and operates every Friday from 11.30am – 1.30pm. Superhero themed, they are inviting you to come in and join them for a superhero experience. At the Pop-up café you can enjoy meals like a superman steak and egg sandwich or a vegie burger with their ‘kapow bbq sauce’ and onion rings. As of April 1, 2017, we will be 92 days from the introduction of the NDIS. As we move closer to the roll out, the Lifebridge NDIS Champion team have been working alongside families and individuals to assist in the development of pre-plans. Pre-planning allows people the opportunity to think through, discuss and plan what they need from the NDIS. Speaking to other people is often a good way to clarify exactly what is needed to create a more independent and inclusive life. Due to the severe weather warnings, Lifebridge has cancelled all services today. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused however our customer safety is top priority. A severe weather warning has been issued for the Northern Rivers region, Thursday 30 and Friday 31 March. Heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding has been predicted which may affect our service offering. If safety precautions need to be implemented communications will be disseminated to all customers. We will continue to actively monitor the changing weather conditions over the next couple of days and will determine if changes to normal services are required. Over the past year, I’ve made reference to establishing the groundwork and the foundations as Lifebridge prepares for the upcoming industry changes. This year these industry changes come into effect and with our thorough planning, we are prepared. But more importantly, we are equipped to support you through these changes and to make the transition as easy as possible. Home Care Packages will be available in the coming months and in 4 months’ time, the NDIS will begin to roll-out across Northern New South Wales. Happy New Year and welcome to 2017.   With the festivities and the countless gatherings behind us now, we can focus our attentions to 2017 and all the excitement this new year brings. We also look to this time of year for planning and goal setting and we encourage everybody to do the same. This year was you begin to think about your goals and plans, consider trying something new and broadening your horizons. Set yourself some challenges and explore new activities that you have never tried before. Trying new activities is a great way to meet new people, have some fun and to learn and develop along the way.

2017 is an exciting year for Lifebridge and the Lifebridge Community. This year we celebrate an incredible milestone of 30 years in operation.   First established in 1987, Lifebridge was an organisation of very few staff and operated solely within the Kingscliff area. Since our very modest beginnings Lifebridge has expanded, developed and grown. Today we employ over 100 staff, over 50 volunteers and service over 650 customers across disability, aged  services. We operate out of two primary locations in Tweed Heads and Kingscliff and deliver over 40 various activities for our customers.
